Pretoria - A Pretoria lawyer has been
arrested after he stabbed and killed the dog of a
12-year-old boy while both were out walking their
animals.
The incident happened in a security estate in
Moreletapark at about 16:00 on Wednesday, reported
Beeld.
The boy, Aiden Viljoen, was walking his ridgeback
Samson and another dog, Kiara, on a lead when the
dog saw Francois Greeff come along with his two
dogs.
The ridgeback apparently started pulling forward to
get to the other dogs where according to the boy,
there was a lot of growling and the leads got
tangled up.However, the dogs did not bite each
other.
The lawyer allegedly leaned forward, over the boy,
and stabbed the dog, piercing Samson’s lungs,
causing him to die barely an hour later.
“He hurt Simson and Kiara was also cut on the ear.
He then stood back and I asked him: ‘Did you just
cut my dog?’ and he said yes. I asked: ‘Aren’t you
going to apologise? And he said ‘no’ and walked
away.”
“Simson came to lie against me and when I looked
down I saw blood dripping down his leg. My dog
didn’t deserve that,” said the sad boy.
Viljoen received the dog from his grandfather who
died last year.
Greeff allegedly told the boy’s father that he used
the knife to defend himself and his dogs.
But he told Beeld that he understood that what he
did was wrong.
